The Kagurazaka Bakeneko (Ghost Cat) Festival is an annual participatory street festival held since 2009 in Kagurazaka, Shinjuku, where attendees of all ages dress up as cats and stroll or march through the neighborhood. The 2026 edition runs 10:00-17:00 on October 11 along the Kagurazaka main street and at Shirogane Park, with several costumed parade processions through the day (brass-band, samba and early-music versions plus a 16:30 finale) and a cat-themed Awa-Odori-style dance performance at 13:30. General entry and street-watching are free; optional paid extras include participation badges (from about ¥500 for a "citizen cat" up to ¥5,000 for a "royal cat," needed to actually join the parade lane), face-painting/makeup, kimono rental, and cloakroom/changing-room use. The Peatix listing given as the current URL is a private meetup group ("ENJOY TOKYO") inviting people to attend the festival together as a group, not the festival's own official page.
