Tada Minami―Still, shimmering light
Saturday, August 29, 2026
The Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo presents the first solo exhibition in Tokyo in 35 years of Tada Minami (1924–2014), an artist whose diverse practice spanned sculpture, reliefs, chandeliers, and architectural work.
This exhibition traces the trajectory of a pioneering female artist who incorporated industrial materials and technologies emerging during Japan's period of rapid economic growth into artistic expression. To this day, Tada’s work has seen a resurgence of appreciation both domestically and internationally.
Included in this exhibition are works ranging from early paintings and representative sculptures integrating reflections and transparency of light, as well as sculptural pieces made for architectural spaces, alongside related archives.
