The St. Thomas Choir of Leipzig, the church choir Bach once led as Thomaskantor, joins the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra for Bach's St Matthew Passion, which was first performed at St. Thomas Church and reaches its 300th anniversary. Current Thomaskantor Andreas Reize conducts, with tenor Julian Pregardien as the Evangelist. The Passion is sung in the original language with Japanese surtitles, as part of an Asia tour taking in Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
