A play based on the novel written by Mikhail Bulgakov between 1928 and 1940. The book was considered critical of the Soviet regime and only published in a censored version after the author’s death. Blending fantasy and reality across different eras, it explores themes of good and evil, love, and the immortality of art in a remarkable way. The story has since been adapted into films, TV dramas, and stage productions. This production uses Edward Kemp's adaptation, in which the main character, the 'Master,' is reimagined as a playwright instead of a novelist.
