Autumn Foliage at MOA Museum of Art
Located on a hillside 250 meters above sea level in Atami, Shizuoka Prefecture, the MOA Museum of Art offers sweeping views of the Sagami Bay, including Hatsushima and Izu Oshima Islands. The museum sits within a vast 23-hectare garden named Zuiun-kyo, featuring landscapes such as Tsutsuji Hill and a plum grove, showcasing natural beauty throughout the year. From mid-November to early December, the maple trees in the tea garden turn vibrant shades of red and orange, making it a popular but tranquil spot for autumn leaf viewing. Visitors can also see autumn grasses like pampas grass, gentians, toad lilies, and bush clover, and enjoy matcha tea at the Ichihakuan teahouse while admiring the colors. Maple leaves floating in the stream in front of the Korin Residence further add to the seasonal atmosphere.
