Matti Pikkujamsa + Jenni Rope "Akai Mono"

Finnish artists Matti Pikkujämsä and Jenni Rope will be holding their first joint exhibition at Spiral, "Akai Mono (Red Things)," from Wednesday, August 19th to Sunday, August 30th. This exhibition will feature an installation using unique hand-printed textiles, as well as a new series of small works painted on paper and canvas. All fabrics are handcrafted using a combination of various traditional printmaking techniques, including serigraphy (silkscreen), linocut, monoprint, and stencil. The finished works alternate between soft, tranquil tones and bright, energetic hues, highlighting the diverse emotional nuances that a single color can express. The handcrafted production style, working at a printing table, fosters spontaneous inspiration and embraces elements of chance, leaving each piece with its own unique character.
