Masamichi Kawano Solo Exhibition: Borrowing and Returning the Sea

Masamichi Kawano creates sculptures by connecting his own body with natural materials and transforming their traces into new forms. This exhibition features new works that begin with 1,000 kilograms of salt made from Seto Inland Sea water, evolving through stages of salt, iron, lead, and back to salt again. As the materials shift, masculine and feminine molds, hollows and solids, invert and interact. The exhibition explores the relationship between body and material, ownership and circulation in sculpture through Kawano’s artistic practice.
