A style icon of her own time, the queen’s attire and interiors have exerted a lasting influence on fashion, design, film, and other fields from the eighteenth century to the present day. Through dresses, jewelry, and furniture of the Marie Antoinette era, the exhibition examines the queen’s wide-ranging stylistic innovations while considering the life of this complex figure. It also explores the timeless appeal of Marie Antoinette’s style, and how and why it continues to be a constant source of inspiration for contemporary creators.
This exhibition is part of an international touring exhibition curated by the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and will be shown exclusively in Japan at the Yokohama Museum of Art.
