Major Disasters and Human Psychology
October 10, 2026
This course explores the psychological and practical knowledge needed to make use of disaster information and evacuate safely during emergencies. The first session examines issues on both the side of those issuing disaster information and those receiving it, considering why damage tends to repeat. The second session focuses on negative phenomena such as panic and rumors during disasters, and deepens understanding of the psychology behind attempts to ease anxiety and the 'panic myth.' Registration and payment period: September 1 (Tue) to September 30 (Wed).
