Throughout history, fragrance has played a variety of roles—reflecting the lifestyles and aesthetics of different eras and regions, and serving purposes from religious rituals to personal grooming and elegant pastimes. This exhibition showcases items such as ancient Greek perfume containers, perfume bottles that symbolize the flourishing of European scent culture, and objects related to the art of incense and incense ceremony developed in Japan. By tracing the history of this 'invisible adornment,' visitors are invited to reconsider the significance of fragrance in our modern lives.
