This annual autumn exhibition at the Tokyo National Museum's Asian Gallery explores the beauty of Asian art, crafts, and archaeological artifacts from a fresh perspective each year. For 2026, the theme is 'Colorful Asia', featuring vibrant works from across the continent and delving into the technological innovations and pigment secrets behind the creation of ideal colors. Visitors can admire striking pieces such as multicolored glass candlesticks and other vividly decorated artworks from China, the Korean Peninsula, Southeast Asia, India, and Egypt. Highlights include an Indian miniature painting depicting King Ranjit Singh seated on a terrace, allowing comparisons of color expression across regions and eras. The exhibition also offers audio guides about regional colors for those with visual impairments, as well as related events, including Indonesian gamelan music performances and dances.
