Taking "the city and its youth" as their subject, the artist has developed a conceptual, narrative-driven practice shaped by manga, film, and other currents of subculture. Since 2021, they have led JYU, a seven-chapter, seven-year project fusing exhibitions with live performance, unfolding the story of a youth in Tokyo who becomes a black beast.
This exhibition is an attempt to crystallize JYU, which has until now expanded organically, and to present it as work. The octopus slide, pampas grass, painting, sculpture, video, drawing—fragments cut from different angles overlap, and the contour of JYU gradually rises into view. It is at once a record of JYU and an attempt to preserve our lives as myth.
