Historically, mineral pigments have been used in traditional Japanese paintings. In this event, participants will make paint from the mineral malachite, using traditional methods, and try painting with it. There is also a simultaneous activity to search for 'minerals that become paint' among the mineral specimens in the museum. Participants in either activity will receive a recommended mineral sample card as a gift. See the website for details. Advance lottery registration is required for the 'Make Paint from Malachite' workshop.
