The World of Taisho Imagerie

An exhibition showcasing the publishing culture and print art that flourished during the Meiji to Taisho periods. Imagerie refers to widely appreciated printed materials such as book covers, illustrations, posters, postcards, advertisements, manga, and photographs. The exhibit focuses on the diverse visual expressions that emerged as Western printing techniques were introduced and Japanese books transitioned from Western to Western styles. Highlights include vibrant designs by Tokuji Fujishima, Goyo Hashiguchi, and Yumeji Takehisa, as well as magazines, sheet music, and advertisements, capturing the modern and refined aesthetic of the Taisho era.
