November 1, 2026 – February 10, 2027
Nakayama Hokekyoji Temple, a prominent temple of the Nichiren Buddhist sect founded in the Kamakura period, is known for its historic cultural assets such as the Founder’s Hall, the Lotus Sutra Hall, the Four-legged Gate, and a five-story pagoda. Every year from November 1 to February 10, monks from across Japan gather here for a rigorous 100-day winter ascetic training called the 'Daiaragyo.' The ceremony marking the beginning of this training takes place on November 1. After 100 days, the conclusion is celebrated on February 10. For more details, please check the official website.
