Imamura creates works by observing everyday scenes and extracting fragments from them. Light that catches her eye is perceived through her lens as images significantly out of focus. She continually explores how to capture this beautiful, ambiguous, and fluctuating visual world in painting. Rather than emphasizing emotion or narrative, her paintings focus on color, boundaries between colors, and shapes of light, inviting viewers to overlay their own feelings and memories onto the artwork.
