Art Workshop for Adults: Painting on Ema Plaques

Held at Tokyo University of the Arts, this three-day program features lectures by instructors from the Department of Japanese Painting. Participants will sketch floral designs on wooden ema plaques, then use pigments and mineral paints traditional to Japanese painting to complete their artwork. The workshop provides a hands-on opportunity to deeply engage with the art form in a university classroom setting. Finished pieces can be exhibited at local venues if desired. Open to anyone age 18 or older with an interest in Japanese painting. Applications accepted until July 23, 2026 (Thursday).
