Kaminarimon Bon Odori Festival: Dream Lanterns

This annual summer festival takes place along the tree-lined avenue in front of Kaminarimon Gate. The event features 21 illuminated artistic lanterns from Yuzawa City in Akita Prefecture, long-time partners of the festival. The opening includes a performance by the 1st Music Corps of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force's 1st Division (note: performance will be canceled in case of rain). There are also exhibitions of Self-Defense Force vehicles, information booths from the Ministry of Defense, local fire and police departments, as well as PR booths from Yuzawa and Nikaho cities in Akita. Shoppers at participating stores can enter a prize lottery.
