Autumn Foliage at Ashikaga School Historic Site
Ashikaga School, recognized as Japan’s oldest school and a designated Japan Heritage site in Tochigi Prefecture, offers a stunning display of autumn colors. Visitors can enjoy vibrant yellow and red foliage from the over 300-year-old ginkgo tree, Japanese maples, and the locally famous Nanban Hazen tree, which is a natural monument. The traditional thatched-roof main hall provides a beautiful view of the garden, calming all who visit. Please note: from September 2026 to March 2027, the main hall will be closed for roof renovations, but the study hall will remain open to the public during this period.
