Fishermen, those transporting goods by ship or oxen, workers at teahouses catering to travelers, and those serving samurai households all contributed to the lively port life. This exhibition features ukiyo-e and ancient documents depicting these workers, highlighting the jobs related to the sea, Tokaido, and samurai residences. Discover the types of work from that era—some similar to today's, some different, and some no longer seen.
