The final of the 106th Emperor's Cup, Japan's premier knockout football championship, is played on New Year's Day at the National Stadium (MUFG Stadium). It is the first New Year's Day final in six years and the fourth straight final at the venue. The Empress's Cup women's final is held the same day, for the first time since 2011.
