In 2026, the Hosho Yamaguchi Memorial Museum celebrates its 35th anniversary. Focusing on the century-long journey of Hosho and Haruko Yamaguchi, who married in 1926, the exhibition shines a light on Hayama, the seaside town they deeply loved in their postwar years. Alongside Hosho’s signature works, large-scale recently discovered Japanese paintings by his wife Haruko (Kouen) from her own career as an artist will be featured. Through highlighting the distinctive aesthetic they cultivated, the exhibition retraces the couple’s creative path and explores future possibilities for the museum.
