Autumn Foliage at Lake Okutama
October 21 – November 30, 2026
Free entry
Located in western Tokyo, Lake Okutama is a man-made reservoir created by the Ogouchi Dam on the Tama River. In autumn, the surrounding mountains are painted with vibrant fall colors reflected on the lake’s surface, creating a stunning seasonal landscape. Visitors can enjoy varied scenery along the lakeshore and the Okutama Loop Road, and scenic walking paths like Mihari-no-Oka and Okutama Lakeside Recreation Trail offer immersive hiking experiences among the fall leaves. Maple, oak, and ginkgo trees begin to change color in late October, with the peak typically around late November.
