A charity performance of Handel's oratorio Messiah, known as Geidai Messiah, run since 1951 with the cooperation of Tokyo University of the Arts and organised by the Asahi Shimbun Welfare and Culture Foundation. It features the Geidai Philharmonia Orchestra and the university's vocal students as chorus, with four soloists, under conductor Toshiaki Umeda. Proceeds support the foundation's social welfare and disaster-relief work.
