70 Years After His Passing: Takeshi Modai and the Painters of Paris – Fragments of Paris
October 30, 2026 – January 31, 2027
After World War II, Takeshi Modai became known as an illustrator of children's books. In 1930, at the age of 21, Modai traveled alone to Paris and spent three years journeying throughout Europe. The sights he encountered left a lasting impression and became recurring themes in his later works. Marking the 70th anniversary of his passing, this exhibition presents three surviving sketchbooks from his time in Europe, displayed together for the first time, alongside works by other artists active in Paris during that era. The exhibition brings to life the precious memories of the journey that inspired Modai’s creativity.
