Special Exhibition: The Best of the Yamatane Collection I — From Taikan Yokoyama and Seihou Takeuchi to Shouen Uemura and Gyoshu Hayami (Celebrating the Museum’s 60th Anniversary)
This special exhibition celebrates the 60th anniversary of the Yamatane Art Museum. Carefully selected works of modern Japanese painting from the museum’s renowned collection of approximately 1,800 pieces will be on display. Featured are masterpieces by leading artists in Japanese art history such as Taikan Yokoyama, Seihou Takeuchi, Shouen Uemura, and Gyoshu Hayami. The exhibition also includes Important Cultural Properties such as Seihou Takeuchi’s 'Tabby Cat' and Kagaku Murakami’s 'Nude', as well as other signature works like Shouen Uemura’s 'Fireflies' and Ryushi Kawabata’s 'Naruto'. Additionally, visitors can view historically significant works that reflect the collection’s origins, including Taikan Yokoyama’s 'Shinshin', acquired specially at the time of the museum’s founding, and 'Hidaka River' from Kokei Kobayashi’s 'Kiyohime'.
