Opera Theater Konnyaku-za, dedicated to creating and performing new Japanese operas, is staging a reimagined production of a classic work from 40 years ago. Eight vocalists sing, speak, and perform live without microphones to portray the creature of oni (demon) born from human hearts. The performance explores themes of intolerance, loneliness, shared joy, and the disconnection caused by misunderstandings, reflecting the depths of our contemporary emotions.
