This exhibition features artifacts including the oldest written reference to 'Arai' found on a wooden tablet from the Iba Archaeological Site in Hamamatsu, ancient documents from the Shosoin mentioning Shinjo Village, records of scenic spots along the Hamanagawa River and Hamanabashi Bridge during the Heian to medieval periods, as well as materials from the Sengoku era, the Shinjo Checkpoint and post town in the Edo period, and local festivals and annual events. Discover the history of Shinjo as revealed through historical documents from ancient times to the end of the Edo period.
