Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra 389th Subscription Concert
Marking the 10th anniversary of Isao Tomita's passing, conductor Sachio Fujioka and the Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra present his magnum opus, 'The Tale of Genji: Fantasy Symphony Picture Scroll.' The performance invites audiences into a grand soundscape woven by orchestra, traditional Japanese instruments, and synthesizer. Featuring Kyoto dialect narration, vocals, and biwa by Yoshiko Sakata; biwa by Akiko Kubota; 25-string koto by Michiko Takita; nohkan and bamboo flute by Kohei Nishikawa; hichiriki by Akinori Inaba; sho and hichiriki by Hanako Nakamura; and synthesizer by Katsunori Ujiie.
