This exhibition celebrates the 100-year history of the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum, Japan's first public art museum opened in 1926. It showcases creative works from three distinct locations: Tokyo's Ueno, Omuta in Fukuoka, and Buenos Aires in Argentina. Visitors can explore the museum's history through paintings, prints, photographs, and archival materials. The exhibition also features about 400 works by Shigeo Egami, a artist known for depictions of Omuta's landscapes. Additionally, it highlights stories of immigrant families who brought the museum's first collection piece, 'The Marigold Garden,' from Japan to Buenos Aires, illustrating the connections between migration, daily life, and art through related artworks and documents.
