Autumn Leaves at Katori Shrine
November 20 – December 10, 2026
Katori Shrine is the main shrine among around 400 Katori Shrines nationwide. Nestled deep in a forest, it offers breathtaking autumn foliage each year. Ginkgo, maple, and other trees illuminate the expansive grounds in vivid hues, creating a peaceful atmosphere for visitors. The best time to visit is from late November to early December. In November, the annual Katori Shrine Chrysanthemum Festival is held, allowing you to experience both around 500 displays of chrysanthemums and the autumn colors if your visit coincides. As you explore highlights such as the main hall, the tower gate, the inner shrine, and the sacred stone—all designated as Important Cultural Properties—enjoy the unique scenery of autumn.
