Special Exhibition: 'Josef Lada – Father of Czech Picture Books'

Josef Lada (1887–1957), often called the 'national artist of the Czech Republic,' is beloved by fans around the world. This is Japan’s first major retrospective exploring the depth and breadth of Lada’s work. Around 200 pieces are on display, including his satirical drawings—the foundation of his career—as well as original illustrations from picture books and children's literature familiar to Japanese audiences, along with paintings that simply capture his homeland’s landscapes and everyday life.
