Eisei Bunko and Waseda University Aizu Yaichi Memorial Museum Joint Exhibition: The World of Hakuin—Encounters Between the Shigenori Tomioka and Moritatsu Hosokawa Collections

Hakuin Ekaku (1685–1768), a Zen monk from the mid-Edo period, is known as the Reviver of the Rinzai School and for spreading Zen teachings through numerous paintings and calligraphic works. This is the first joint exhibition by the Eisei Bunko Museum and the Waseda University Aizu Yaichi Memorial Museum, presenting the full scope of Zen art collections, including works by Hakuin, gathered by Shigenori Tomioka and Moritatsu Hosokawa. Dates: First term, October 9–November 3; Second term, November 7–December 8. The exhibits will change substantially between the two periods.
