日本遺産でもある日本最古の学校である、栃木県の史跡足利学校。樹齢300年以上を誇るイチョウのほか、モミジや栃木県天然記念物のナンバンハゼの色鮮やかな紅葉・黄葉が秋の訪れを感じさせる。また、かやぶき屋根方丈から見る庭園、紅葉が参観者の心を癒やしている(2026年9月から2027年3月まで、方丈かやぶき屋根工事により、方丈立ち入り禁止。工事期間中は書院を公開している)。
