DESCRIPTION:The Yokohama Museum of Art holds a collection of approximately 15\,000 works dating from the late 19th century—when Yokohama Port was opened—to the present day. In our collection exhibitions we showcase the delights of our collection from a range of different perspectives.\n\nThis exhibition features a special section titled “Women Artists Crossing the Sea\,” focusing on women from the 20th century onwards whose work has transcended national borders. The exhibition begins by looking back at the relationships between three female painters—who became the first generation of female artists to engage with foreign cultures—and their families.
