From October 29 to December 6, Kencho-ji Temple in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, will host the special evening event 'VIE Presents Zen Night Kamakura.' Part of a popular event series that has drawn over 70,000 visitors in Kyoto and Kamakura, it returns to Kencho-ji for a second consecutive year. Founded in 1253 by the Kamakura shogunate’s fifth regent, Tokiyori Hojo, with Zen master Lanxi Daolong as its first abbot, Kencho-ji ranks as the foremost of the Five Great Zen Temples of Kamakura. This event is also part of preparations for the temple's 750th anniversary in 2028. From 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, visitors can stroll the scenic temple grounds, transformed with autumn colors and ambient 'neuro-music' for a calming, meditative experience akin to walking Zen. Kencho-ji is about a 15-minute walk from Kita-Kamakura Station.
