SUMMARY:The Kobu-gyu and Friends Returns & Works by 19th-Century Painters
DESCRIPTION:Ancient Iranian pottery comes in all kinds of wonderfully strange and charming forms. The star of this exhibition is a vessel modeled after a hump-bull\, an animal rendered with both strength and cuteness. Its bold\, highly stylized shape feels almost like contemporary art\, making it hard not to admire the sensibility of artisans from 3\,000 years ago.\n\nThree hump-bull vessels will be on view\, each with its own unique personality. Visitors can also enjoy works shaped like goats\, birds\, shoes\, and other motifs.\n\nThe exhibition also features paintings by 19th-century artists such as Zeshin Shibata\, Chinzan Tsubaki\, Katei Taki\, Shuki Okamoto\, Tessai Tomioka and Gyokusho Kawabata—figures whose skill\, taste\, and energy still feel vividly alive today. Asian sculptures and works by Mokichi Okada will also be on display.\n\nhttps://www.tokyoartbeat.com/en/events/-/The-Kobu-gyu-and-Friends-Returns-and...
