SUMMARY:The Birth of a Sengoku Icon: Hideyoshi in the Eyes of the Media
DESCRIPTION:“Taikoki”\, a book chronicling the achievements of Toyotomi Hideyoshi\, was created in the early Edo period and widely read by the public thereafter. Furthermore\, during the Meiji period\, when social advancement was highly encouraged\, Hideyoshi–who rose from poverty to become the ruler of Japan–served as a symbol of hope. As a result\, he appeared in various printed materials\, including editions of Taikoki tailored for children.\nCentering around Taikoki\, this mini-exhibition introduces Hideyoshi as depicted through the printing and publishing media of the Edo and Meiji periods.\n\nhttps://www.printing-museum.org/en/collection/exhibition/p20260722.php
