SUMMARY:Rice Dumpling Festival at Katori Shrine
DESCRIPTION:Also known as the 'Hachikoku Hatto Rice Dumpling Festival\,' this event is a thanksgiving celebration for the harvest\, where rice dumplings made from newly harvested grain are offered to the deities. Unlike most of the more than 100 annual rituals\, no sacred sake is offered during this rare ceremony. It is also said to be a festival honoring the female deities who assisted at the grand harvest thanksgiving ritual held on November 30. After the ceremony\, the dumplings are distributed to visitors\, and it is believed that eating one will ward off colds. Visitors can observe the ritual within the shrine grounds. For details\, please contact the shrine.\n\nhttps://maruchiba.jp/event/detail_11475.html
