This approximately 2.5-kilometer gorge stretches from Fureai Bridge upstream to Shinhorai along the Agatsuma River in Gunma Prefecture. During the autumn season, the maple, oak, hornbeam, clethra, and cherry trees lining both banks display vibrant foliage. The gorge was formed long ago when lava from volcanic eruptions was deeply eroded by the Agatsuma River, earning it the nickname 'Yabakei of Kanto' after a similar scenic site in Kyushu. The most striking spot is near the Hachicho-Kuragari area, where the river narrows to 4 meters in width and plunges to a depth of 50 meters.
