Set against the backdrop of the intensifying Cold War between the US and the Soviet Union, 'The Ascension of the Frog' is an original play by Junji Kinoshita inspired by a real incident that shook postwar Japanese society related to the return of detainees from Siberia. This powerful drama vividly portrays the clash between individuals and society, exploring human existence and the meaning of life on a grand scale.
