This exhibition explores the political, cultural, and spiritual connections between the formation of the nation and its people in modern Japan and Mount Fuji. Focusing on images of Mount Fuji and their association with shoguns and emperors from the end of the Edo period through to the pre-war Showa era, it examines Mount Fuji's role as a symbol of Japan and the Japanese identity.
