Located in northern Tochigi Prefecture, Hunter Mountain Shiobara is a convenient resort about 29 kilometers from the Nishinasuno-Shiobara exit on the Tohoku Expressway, making it an easy day trip from the Tokyo metropolitan area. In autumn, the 'Autumn Foliage Gondola' operates, taking up to six people at a time to the 1,600-meter-high summit in about 15 minutes.
