Founded in 1806, Haibara is an established Japanese paper shop whose owners have historically commissioned top artists like Shibata Zeshin, Kawanabe Kyosai, Takehisa Yumeji, and Kawase Hasui to create product designs, laying the foundation for the distinctive Haibara style. This exhibition features chiyogami patterned paper, uchiwa fan illustrations, decorative poem cards, illustrated envelopes, gift money envelopes, ceremonial wrappers, and other Japanese paper goods produced from the Meiji era to the early Showa period, as well as valuable original artworks and documents. Discover the refined designs and exquisite craftsmanship that define the world of Haibara washi paper.
