Izu Oshima is one of Japan’s most active volcanoes, and this year marks the 40th anniversary of its 1986 eruption. This special exhibition presents an overview of the volcano, coinciding with the publication of the latest geological map of Izu Oshima (2nd edition) and the 40th anniversary of the eruption. It also highlights the latest research by young scientists from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology.
