The Doburoku Festival is a celebration of bountiful harvests that began in the early Heian period to commemorate the founding of Aonuma Kasuga Shrine, which was established as a branch of Nara's Kasuga Shrine. Each year, the local community brews doburoku (unrefined sake) with freshly harvested rice and serves it to visitors on November 23. The festival is designated as an Intangible Folk Cultural Asset by the city.
