Drawing on the long history of lacquer painting traditions that developed across East and Southeast Asia\, the artist reimagines this material through a contemporary perspective.\n\nIn recent years\, Okita has focused on the origins of urushi as a plant-based resin\, exploring how the material can respond in ways that go beyond the artist’s intentions.
