From mid-November to mid-December, around 2,000 maple trees reach their peak color at Shuzenji Rainbow Village. Now in its 22nd year, this popular evening illumination event is a highlight of late autumn in Shuzenji. Highlights include the glowing reflection of maples on the surface of Iris Pond in the Japanese Garden, and the illuminated maple forest—about 1,000 trees—leading to the Artisan Village, which features traditional houses dating back 150 to 300 years. Visitors can enjoy a magical view of the autumn foliage unlike anything seen during the day.
