Mount Horai, located in Sano City, Tochigi Prefecture, was established around 1,200 years ago by Saint Shodo, the founder of Nikko Futarasan Shrine, and flourished as a major spiritual site. The mountain offers beautiful natural scenery throughout the year, but the autumn foliage is especially breathtaking. Every year, many visitors come to see the vibrant autumn colors from mid to late November when the leaves are at their peak.
