The Yokohama Port Museum, opened for the 150th anniversary of the port's opening, continues to evolve, especially since the addition of the Ryohei Yanagihara Art Museum in 2018, famous for 'Uncle Torys' illustrations. In front of the museum stands the sailing ship Nippon Maru, known as the 'Swan of the Pacific' and beloved as a symbol of Yokohama. What makes the Nippon Maru so special? Why is the Ryohei Yanagihara Art Museum located within the Yokohama Port Museum? Explore these questions and more through this talk and guided tour from an artistic perspective.
